Attractions
Canal Park is the obvious starting point — waterfront trails, local shops, breweries, and a steady parade of ships heading in and out of the harbor. The Lakewalk stretches out from there, a scenic path for walking or biking with views of freighters passing close enough to wave at.
Great Lakes Aquarium
Duluth’s freshwater ecosystem lives here — native fish, reptiles, birds, and river otters that make this one of the best rainy-day or too-cold-outside options in the city. It’s open year-round, so it’s a solid backup plan no matter when you visit.
Aerial Lift Bridge Visitor Center
Watching a 700-foot freighter slide underneath the Aerial Lift Bridge, horn blaring, is one of those only-in-Duluth moments that photos never quite capture — though you’ll try anyway. The Visitor Center next door fills in the history behind the engineering.

The restaurant scene downtown runs from casual pubs to genuinely refined, sit-down dinners — plenty of seafood, burgers, pasta, and local craft beverages, most of it with a lake view thrown in for free.
The Boat Club
Tucked into the lower level of the historic Fitger’s complex, The Boat Club pairs fresh fish, seafood, and hand-cut steaks with some of the best water views in town. Shop your way through Fitger’s first, then settle in on the patio if the weather cooperates — there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

Two Reasons to Book Late Summer
Concerts on the Pier at Glensheen turns every Wednesday evening through August into a free lakeside show, with local and regional artists performing right on Glensheen’s pier over Lake Superior. Bring a blanket, or better yet, paddle in and watch from the water.
City on the Hill Music Festival takes over Bayfront Festival Park August 7–8 with two full days of live music right on the waterfront — one of the biggest summer festivals downtown has going, and reason enough on its own to plan a weekend around it.
